Hi,

Just to voice about as a GOAN , I wish at least one of the politicians would
read this message though it would not have any impact on them after all we are
just localities not any celebrities.

The real Goon Model is someone like Remo,he may be a celebrity but first he is
a GOAN and he really did prove it. I would second his thoughts, A lot is spend
from the GOAN Budget to honor people who come to our state specially
celebrities but not the people in the state, Why cant the government spend
the same on developing our state , the hospitals , the schools. Last Year just
because of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI)the power supply for
the local citizens was cut off, I as a GOAN would ask WHY?

Why is the Goan Youth generation Slogging Out of the State far away from their
families the simple answer would be there are no proper careers options, no
enough jobs no proper educational institutions. Why cant the Government spend
on doing something for the people in the state first and then organize
programmes like International Film Festival of India (IFFY).

Is there a way we as Goans can help Goa to be a better place to live in?

Joana.

Goa can become a model state if politicians want: Remo

Panaji, Nov. 27 (PTI): Goa can be a model state within no time but
politicians, who can spend crores on film festival, do not care about the
people in the state, said Goa's singer of international repute Remo
Fernandes.

"I am not protesting the film festival," Remo, who has kept away from the
ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2005 voicing his
concern over spending on films and neglect of the vital issues that affects
Goa, said.

"I was invited to compose song for IFFI inauguration which I refused. I
suppose they wanted to buy my soul and silence me by offering me the song as
I would have to sing asking people to come for IFFI through that song," Remo
told reporters at his residence in Miramar, near here.

"If they can do it on film festival why could not they do it for improving
our hospitals, schools and other basic amenities like roads," he questioned.

"Countries like France before holding Cannes festival spend on their people
and only after that they open their
coffers for festival," he added.

"If the politicians want they can convert Goa into a model state but they
want power and they don't realize that simplest way to cling to power is to
work for the people," Remo said.
