BANGALORE: The IAF has made a key adjustment in usage of air space to pave way for the proposed Bangalore International Airport at Devanahalli, 15 km from the Yelahanka Air Force Station in the City.>> <''Since an international airport is coming up, we have agreed to make some adjustments in our flying activities,'' Air Marshal Satish K. Jain, Senior Air Staff Officer, Air Force Training Command told this website's newspaper. Headquartered in the City, Training Command controls IAF's training activities all over the country, including Yelahanka, where basic flying training is imparted. This station trains transport pilots and is the venue for the biennial Aero India fair. With these changes, the IAF will literally have to travel an extra nautical mile. Trainer aircraft will have to travel longer to reach training sectors. So their schedules and training circuits will have to be remodelled.> <But the IAF has not agreed to all the demands made by the AAI and has flatly refused to close the Srinivasapura airstrip in Kolar. ''We need it for our training activities,'' he said. Several activities, including testing of Nishant, the unmanned aerial vehicle, are undertaken here. The IAF had also turned down the AAI demand for 30 nautical miles of unrestricted airspace.> -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Goa - 2005 Santosh Trophy Champions | | | | Support Soccer Activities at the grassroots in our villages | | Vacationing in Goa this year-end - Carry and distribute Soccer Balls | --------------------------------------------------------------------------
