The reason must be this: when it was composed years back,it was meant to be a sort of "NATIONAL HYMN" of the Goan Catholics,and national hymns are not translated!!....it goes against internacional laws !!. It will NEVER have the same "spiritual appeal" in any other language, even if it is Esperanto. Once I heard a Choir from Poland singing it in pure "amchi bhas" to open a concert that they gave here in Pangim. It came as a surprise,as it was not mentioned in the printed Programme.So you can imagine the delirious applause and they were forced to three " "encores".That confirms: The Hymn can be and MUST ONLY sung in konkani. As we are already in the Festive Season, I wish the best to all the recipients of this letter and posing myself as a SantaCLaus, I attach a e- calendar valid from 1900 to 2700.It happens to be in Portuguese,but can be easily understood and used by any one.If you wish FWD it to your own friends and relatives I see the name of Ralph Flores in the recipients: I happen to meet him in front of my house, by chance, after some fifty years !!
