IRON ISLAND -- Jazireh Ahani in Farsi directed by
Mohammad Rasoulof a feature film completed between
August 2004 to 31st July 2005 from among the films
competing from Asia Africa and Latin America won the
Golden Peacock Award at the International Film
Festival of India this evening -- on the closing day
of the 36th IFFI held from 24 November, 2005 to 4th
December, 2005 at the Panaji Goa India
The film is an adventure of homeless men women and
children abandoned by society who live in a sinking
oil tanker in the Persian Gulf under the watchful eye
of Captain Nemat.
The jury perhaps seemed to be inspired by our own very
River Princess stuck on the golden sands of the
Candolim Beach.
