We have read your article in Goanet dated Jan 26 2005 about the two robberies at Cavelossim.
Unfortunately, my wife and I recently suffered a similar very frightening experience whilst walking along from Cavelossim to Zalor Beach (half way between the two) at 16.20 in the afternoon of November 10th. when we were stopped by four young men who held knives to our throats; made us get down on the sand, and took money and three cameras (one video). We feel that the whole incident had been well-planned and 'professional', and they even calmly walked off to the trees and scrub at the back of the beach as if they had done this before. We were then left to gather our strewn belongings and head for the Zalor beach shacks to seek help. We then reported the attack to the Colva Police and made a formal complaint. It seems to us that this is likely to be the same gang who did at least one of the attacks reported in your article. We found all of the local people, together with our fellow guests, shocked and most supportive when we told them what had occurred, and it was then that we began to discover that ours was not an isolated incident. Incidentally, we were staying at the Dona Sa Maria, as were Graeme and Julie Skinner; one of the couples mentioned in your article. We hope that you will be able to make use of this information.
