In the gloomy calibre and integrity of the current
batch of Goa legislators, there is a silver lining -
the young and charismatic Filipe Neri Rodrigues.
The humble, soft-spoken and well-mannered Velim MLA
had to bear the brunt of being high-handedly
disqualified as MLA in the process of Manohar
Parrikar's extraction from the CM's chair. But Santa
Claus has brought cheers to Filipe Neri with his
re-qualification as MLA just in time for Christmas.
It is now to be seen whether he will still be made a
Deputy Minister, a post he was inducted for a brief
stint as a token of gratitude for having joined forces
to ensure the ouster of Manohar Parrikar.
All indications are that a naive and unassuming Filipe
Neri will be bullied into being content with a cabinet
berth with the justification that with a political
overweight such as Dr Wilfred D'Sousa, the government
may not be able to sustain and survive the weight of
another Deputy Chief Minister in the chair
