=============== I only read about it in newspaper, magazines etc. But never had a chance to see myself despite living very near to the Airport (just 10mts drive). Last week, I had to spend almost a whole day at the airport. (I can also watch from just outside my house). I could see in the sky the queueing up of Aircrafts/flights preparing for landing. In the night it looks even more beautiful with their head lights (Landing lights) on. Up to 4 flights at a time seen in the queue and the others waiting for their turn to join the queue. While in the Q Distance between them is just about a Minute. ( see photo link below) This also means, from 5am to 11pm, flights landing at LHR are up to 60 per hour i.e. One per minute? If I did not see it myself, I would have never believed it, bearing in mind the air & ground safety but how do they do it? Same time, on other run-away, equal number of flights are taking off. Here, again, queueing of various sizes aricrafts also seen waiting for their turn to take off. Landing & taking off can be witnessed more closely from the Visitors Viewing Gallery on top of Terminal 2 building and its is free. (Total of 4 Terminals, 5th one opening soon) Should you come to London may be on business or holiday trip, I would be happy to show you around (one full day). London has several other airports too. Next major Airport being London Gatwick -LGW (thats where most Chartered Flights operates to and from GOA) Many other Chartered flts to various other holiday destinations and Scheduled flts operates from there.
