It is one thing to achieve approbation as a musician, but it is another to receive the kind of recognition the world renowned Indian singer Remo Fernandes has amassed from critics and peers. Remo Fernandess ability to play many musical instruments with facility sets him apart from his contemporaries. Over the years, the gifted singer has performed with artists as diverse as Led Zeppelin, Barry OHare, Mikie Bennet, Denise Belfon, Ian Anderson and Rikki Jai. Remos virtuosity was put to test when he performed with well-known group Jethro Tull in Dubai one year ago. Such was Remos dominance on stage, it seems, that he gave the renowned band a run for its money, and left his fans mesmerized. Despite his enormous fame, Remo has his feet firmly planted on the terra firma, and such is his fan base that his concerts are packed to the last seat as witnessed in Kuwait when he dazzled a capacity crowd during his last performance.
Music aficionados in Kuwait are on cloud nine, as Remo after a two-year hiatus will fire on all chords, Jan 12, 7.30 pm at the Safir Palace, Reggai, in what is described as a Mega Musical Extravaganza which will also feature his band Microwave Papadams. The show is being organized by Eye Dreamers in tandem with Fankaar Arts Association. Speaking to the Arab Times in an exclusive telephonic interview from Goa, Remo began by saying Its great to be back in Kuwait. I love Kuwait City, it has something special about it which is difficult to come by in the rest of the Gulf, and I cant quite put my finger on what it is. One thing is for certain, the cold winters in Kuwait are very special for an outsider like me, because we tend to forget how cold the country can get.
