Bharti plans Rs 4.5 crore in Ludhiana, Goa PTI Thursday, January 12, 2006 17:33 IST LUDHIANA: Bharti Teletech Limited plans to invest Rs 4.5 crore for enhancing manufacturing capacities at its production facilities in Ludhiana and Goa along with spending on research and development in the next fiscal. Post investment, the company will have annual production capacity of 6.5 million phones per annum. "The planned investment will raise production capacities of both our plants to 6.5 million sets," Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Teletech Limited Rakesh Bharti Mittal told reporters here on Thursday. The company is in negotiation with two global telecom companies France Telecom and Telefonica for handling their major phone requirements and to consolidate its export business in Chile, Argentina and other countries where these companies have large network. With immense potential in international markets Bharti expects to achieve a growth of over 60 per cent on the export front in next fiscal. "We aim to grow by over 60 per cent in next financial year as far as our export market is concerned," said Mittal while adding that the company would be exporting 1.5 million sets by the end of current fiscal. The company currently exports telephone to over 30 countries covering 5 continents including Ethopia, Jordan, Mauritius, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. Bharti recently tied up with Motorola to extend the availability of Motorola mobile phones to consumers in the market through Bharti Teletech's national distribution network. -- Cheers, Gabe Menezes.
