-------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Wishing all Goanetters | | a Prosperous | | and | | Happy New Year - 2006 | | Goanet - http://www.goanet.org | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello netters,
I just happened to have a glance at the International Herald Tribune 6thJan, and came across this article, which I read only because Goa was mentioned in it. Asia's next tend setting beach. (With apologies to Alexander Lobrano) Sihanoukuille Cambodia. Its the next Goa, (that's how the article went). This city was founded in 1950s and is the youngest city of Cambodia. Although it offers nothing much now, but has the cleanest beaches, and the best way of spending holidays is relaxing on the beach, reading, swimming and napping. It has a happy, hippy funkiness along the lines of Goa, and pulls a young international crowd out to have a good time on a small budget. Well similar scene was in Goa when Hippies found Goa. From then to now, lots of changes have taken place. The susegad Goa has become a jungle and more and more buildings, houses, hotels. DLS has increased (Day light robbery). Prices are told not by the product, but by the buying power of the customer or their skin. With the way things are going, will Goa loose on its tourism status? Only time will tell.
