BY HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, JAN 13 - Around 3,000 young talents of various colleges and 60
groups from Pernem to Canacona will descend on Pilar on January 14 and
15 to participate in the 11th Goa Yuva Mahotsav-2006 at the Fr Agnel
College of Arts and Commerce ground.

The two-day event, which is being organised for the last 10 years, is
an endeavour of the Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Margao, and the Fr Agnel
Family, for the first time in Pilar. Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane
will inaugurate the programme.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, St Andre constituency MLA
Francis Silveira said the festival is a platform to keep the Konkani
movement alive in the hearts and minds of Goans. "It is a privilege
that it is being held for the first time in my constituency."
KBM President Bhiku Naik said the Department of Art and Culture has
sanctioned a grant of Rs 2.5 lakh for the event, but the expenses
incurred are more than Rs 5 lakh. "The remaining amount is raised
through sponsorship, souvenirs and stalls at the venue."
Main Organiser Fr Fredrick Rodrigues and Working President Mangaldas
Bhat also briefed the press on the programme.
This year, the participants will get to showcase their talents in
singing, dancing, theatre, oratory, painting, writing, fancy dress and
folk art. After travelling to Bandora, Valpoi, Curchorem, Volvoi and
