Uguem locals threaten stir over road hot-mixing

SANGUEM, JAN 14 — Angry villagers of Uguem village in Sanguem have
once again threatened to block roads in the village if the PWD fails
to begin the work of hot-mixing the Uguem-Chiraband road within 15
days.
Speaking to Herald, the villagers informed that when the villagers had
held a rasta roko some two months back, PWD authorities had assured
villagers that the dilapidated Uguem-Chiraband road would be hot-mixed
within a month.
"The authorities had also assured us that as a preliminary work, the
department will do the patch work so as to make the road motorable,"
said a resident. "However, despite assurances by authorities, the road
continues to be in a bad shape."
It may be recalled that the Uguem-Chiraband road is used by over 500
truckers on any given day for the transportation of mineral ore from
various mines in the village.
