Opinion Poll Anniversary.
According to Pe. Chico Monteiro soon after the Opinion Poll and the victory
of "Niz Goykar", during our discussion on this subject, said Pe. Chico
Monteiro: Antonio, the biggest loser in this Opinion Poll is not Maharastra
nor Bandodkar nor Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party but The Prime Minister of
India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. First I found it difficult to digest but
gradually I learnt more and digested more on Indian politics and realised
what Pe. Chico Monteiro said was absolutely right. Nehru's tongue was like
that of a prostitute's tongue. Immediately after conquering Goa, he came to
visit Goa and even came to see Calangute Beach where in a short remark he
said "Portuguese did not do anything good for you but created something
Portuguese in you". Nehru wanted to eradicate traces of Portuguese rule in
Goa and on Goans. The best option for this master plan of his was prepared
with the help of his friends and colleagues in Congress Y. B. Chavan and V.
P. Naik (Maharastra Chief Minister after Chavan was called in Delhi from
Maharastra) was to merge Goa bodily and soully into Maharastra and once and
for all finish the identity of Portuguese traces in India by totally
liquidating Goa. But Goans are Goans, the genuine Goans are genuine Goans,
they will do anything and go anywhere in the world but they will never
disown their land. These are called genuine Goans and not illegitimate Goans
who are selling Goa to non-Goans. For its protection they will do anything
however weak and disadvantegeous they may be. And this is exactly what has
happened. Before the Opinion Poll in our areas in Bardez, Bandodkar and
his MGP brought in "goondas" from Maharastra to frighten us, the genuine
Goans, into submission and thus keep us away from local political process.
Young genuine Goan boys from Dempe College (earlier from Liceu) were
assaulted by these goondas for raising the banner of Goa for Goans but these
boys never got afraid of them, they were also deadly. Once we the students
from Arpora School and from my village while going to Mapusa in a cycle
rally were attacked by the goons brought in from Maharastra at Canca Parra
but we too did not get afraid of the hired goons from outside. On Fridays
at Mapusa Bazar these Bandodkar brought goons used to create havoc for those
people who were known supporters of anti-merger. We had no money to pour
for our propaganda like Bandodkar who used to get crores from Maharastra but
we poured our time, sweat and blood to oppose merger of Goa with Maharastra.
I was not earning but whatever little pocket money my mother was giving me I
used to spend for the propaganda of Goa for Goans, like me all my friends
and colleagues were also doing. Up to now no Governement in Goa decided to
erect the Monument of Dr. Jack de Sequeira because men like Rane will never
support such issues because Rane and his clique in the Government are anti
Goans. Up to now the Opinion Poll day is not declared as public holiday in
Goa and as long as Rane and his clique are on power they will never give
this holiday. Today if these Ranes and others enjoying the previlleges of
monarchs in Goa as Ministers, MLAs and Chairmen of organisations then they
must thank the legitimate Goans who won them the Opinion Poll and not to the
illegitimate settlers in Goa who voted against "DON PAAM". At least the
Monument of "DON PANAM" in Panjim at an strategic place will be a fitting
tribute to all those who fought and voted for the victory of Opinion Poll.
After Bandodkar the greatest enemy of Goa, Goans, Konkani, and everything
Goan is Prataphsingh Rane. He does not care for anything, however much you
and me we may harp and bark. He is true non-symphatiser and non-supporter
of Goan causes. He is acting like a feudal lord. Even in his private
conversation he talks like a Lord from Upper House. The way these Ranes and
artificial monarch as ministers and MLAs are acting it looks to me that they
are worst then Portuguese feudality. At least Portuguese were far better
but not these Ranes, Bandodars and others like them. Goans must now decide
to detrone Rane by all means and to do this a strong alliance is required of
like minded persons and like minded parties. In the coming election, the
Congressmen should be asked not to elect Rane as their Chief Minister if
Congress wins the election. This assurance must be extorted from every
Congress party contestant before the election only otherwise Congress
candidates should be kicked out. Congressmen are very cunning and they
should be thought a very good lesson in the coming election for which
preparation should be started now only. Meantime I hope as an expatriate
NRI I will get my voting right along with others.

Nehru had no guts to give Goans a referendum for a
independent Goa.
Why the Opinion poll? Was it a part of the agenda of
the invasion ie.: to merge it with maharastra?
Goans are/were made prisioners, fortunately they
fought and voted against the merger and many thanks to
the sashtikars who were stalwarts in this duff
process.
