Move out or face action,Arlekar warns stall owner MORMUGAO, JAN 23 — The Vasco BJP Wing on Monday served an ultimatum on the exhibition-cum-sale owner R P Singh who has put up stalls at the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Childrens Park. Vasco MLA Rajendra Arlekar had earlier demanded that the MMC cancel the licence granted to Mr Singh by January 31, failing which the BJP along with residents of Vasco would take action against the stall owner. On Monday morning, a group of BJP members and residents went to the garden and served an ultimatum on the owner by January 31. Mr Singh is reported to have told the group that he had already paid the licence fee to the MMC till February 15. An adamant Arlekar, however, told Mr Singh to recover the balance fee amount from the MMC chairperson, but insisted that the stalls should be removed before the deadline. Mr Arlekar stated that the permission was given up to December 31, 2005 to one Peter, who had, in turn, sub-let the place to R P Singh. On the expiry of the licence, another licence was issued to one Dilawar Khan up to February 15, which was again sub-let to Singh. Mr Arlekar alleged that there was a nexus between Peter and Dilawar Khan, who, he claimed, were out to make money at the cost of the Children's garden and felt that the chairperson was aware of this nexus. He also claimed that people working in the stalls had misused the garden by using it for answering nature's call, bathing and for cooking purpose, which had caused unbearable stench in the garden. -- May your God be with you.
