BJP opposes use of children's park for trading activities NT News Service
Vasco Jan 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vasco mandal gave an ultimatum to the owner of the 'Bombay Super Sale', an exhibition-cum-sale at the Mormugao municipal children's park, to vacate the stall by January 31. The BJP, state unit president and the Vasco MLA, Mr Rajendra Arlekar has earlier served an ultimatum to the Mormugao Municipal Council to stop the trade activities it had permitted in the Children's Park by January 31. The BJP president also warned the MMC chairperson that he would an launch an agitation if his deadline of January 31 to raze the said stall was not met. Mr Arlekar along with the Vasco BJP, president, Mr Digambar Amonkar, the city councillor, Mr Krishna Salkar, the citizens forum for public consciousness, president, Mr Leonardo Lobo, Mr Mahendra Salkar and other BJP workers today visited the 'Bombay Super Sale' and requested the owner to vacate the stall by January 31. Mr Arlekar while addressing the press said that the MMC has permitted one Mr Peter to conduct trading activities in the municipal children's park. Then the place was sublet to Mr Dilawar Khan. This was illegal, according to Mr Arlekar. Mr Arlekar also alleged that some of the MMC councillors, including the chairperson are involved in corruption. "And this is an example of the same," he said.
