Margao reservoir commissioned HERALD NEWS DESK PANJIM, JAN 26 — Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane commissioned the 4 cu mt ground-level reservoir constructed at cost of Rs 65.89 lakh at Monte Hill, Margao on Wednesday. Minister for PWD Ramakrishna Dhavlikar and Minister for Power Digambar Kamat were present on the occasion. The reservoir will help in improving the water supply to Pajifond, Malbhat, Comba, Old Market and surrounding area. On the occasion, Rane stressed the need for augmentation of existing water treatment plants and other remedial steps to tackle increasing requirements of water supply in next 20 years in the state. Further, Rane stressed the need for renovation of Margao bus stand and providing better market facilities. He also solicited the cooperation from people in the government efforts to make Goa a model welfare state. Dhavlikar said that an amount of Rs 2 crore has been earmarked for construction of two additional water tanks in Margao and added that trench-less technology would be used in laying underground sewerage lines in Margao. Minister for Power Digamber Kamat said that the government was committed to provide basic requirements of power, water supply, roads and growth requirements for common people in the state and mentioned that an amount of Rs 2 crore has been earmarked for construction of roads in the area. -- Salaam ali kum.
