HC asks Govt to reply on Children's Park misuse

 PANJIM, JAN 26 — Treating as Public Interest Litigation (PIL) a
letter of seven children from Vasco complaining that major part of the
only children's park in the city is used for the commercial purpose,
and therefore they been deprived of the pleasure of playing in the
park, the Bombay High Court at Goa on Monday, asked the State
Government to file its reply.
In their letter dated January 13, 2006 addressed to High Court, seven
children between 10 and15 years, hailing from Vasco complained that
they have been restrained  from using the children's park in the city
as major portion of the park is  occupied by an "exhibition-cum-sale'
with   permission from Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC).
Children's Park located at Swatantra Path is the only park in the Port
City, which has a population of about 1 lakh.
The letter by  Rohit Navelkar,  Bhakti Kamat, Pralhad Singh, Ram
Singh,  Rachel Pereira, Durga Marath and  Sidhi  Parab  also stated 
that children's park in the city it remains largely occupied by
children, it is quite small, and it extremely crowed during vacations.
They said, using the park for commercial use which is meant for
children is a total misuse of the park. The  exhibition still
continues, and they fear it will become a  regular feature. Therefore,
they have requested the Court to intervene in the matter.
