'Govt to back authors with children's literature'

PANJIM, JAN 27  — Education Minister Luizinho Faleiro on Friday
announced that the government would encourage and support authors
coming out with children's literature.
He was speaking after releasing a Konkani book 'Saimakaden Samvad'
(Dialogue with nature) authored by  Rajshree Bandodkar Karapurkar
specially for children. The book was released at a small function held
at Old Secretariat today attended by Dr Datta Damodar Naik,
Director of Education L M T Fernandes and the Director of Science,
Technology and Environment Dr N P S Varde.
Faleiro said, irrespective of the language of the book   government
would support writing of children's literature. It can be anything a
story book or poetry book, he said.
Saimakaden Samvad is uniqueness book in which children talk and
interact with nature. Book has colourful pictures.
Mr Fernandes speaking on this occasion said, their approach has been
to have books which are illustrative and help students to improve
their academic performance. It is important for students to summarise
and communicate by reading from the book. For this purpose department
will set-up a knowledge laboratory, and also Maths laboratory, stated
Fernandes.
