Pro Mopa lobby withdraws ultimatum Jan 31 -- Pro Mopa airport committee today withdrew the ultimatum served to the government over starting land acquisition for Mopa airport in view of the committee appointed by the Central government yesterday. Speaking to media, Babu Azgaokar, Convenor of the pro Mopa all party committee said that the committee is not opposed to the committee set up by the Centre govt to go into the whole issue of Mopa airport and continuation of Dabolim airport. However, he said that his committee will keep a strict watch on the activities of the committee so that the committee do not show any leniency. The committee had organized a massive public meeting at Pernem on Sunday in support of Mopa airport and a three day ultimatum was served to the government to commence the land acquisition proceedings for the project. Meanwhile, North Goa MP Shripad Naik opposed the committee by calling it an "eye wash" which is employed for "delaying tactics". -- Salaam ali kum. Gabe Menezes. London, England
