Municipal employees' body oppose creation of common cadre NT News Service
Margao, Feb 4: The All-Goa Municipal Employees Union (AGMEU) has opposed the proposal of state government for creation of a common cadre. Addressing a press conference, the GMEU president, Mr Keshav Prabhu and the general secretary, Mr Anil Shirodkar said that a debate was essential before the government goes ahead with the formation of a common cadre. They opined that the respective municipal councils appointed the employees and hence the government cannot transfer them. Further, the union observed that allowances in different civic bodies differed and that it made no sense in them being transferred. "How can they say that we do not work and that if we are transferred, the problem would be solved," they queried. They further stated that the government was also aware that it was not feasible to transfer employees. "The government should prepare a white paper," they demanded.
