SUPPORT ROMI KONKANI.
According to the information received in Kuwait, under the leadership of
Dalgado Konkani Akademi, Romivadis will hold on 10th of this month i.e.
tomorrow at 3.p.m. a Rally in Panjim and a Public Meeting at Azad Maidan
Panjim. On receiving this information in this forum thru the article of
Godfrey Gonsalves who is a staunch supporter of Romi Konkani and also a
journalist and social activist, Kuwait Konknni Kendr in its extraordinary
emergency meeting held in Kuwait City, resolved unanimously to give total
support for this Rally and Public Meeting.
Kuwait Konknni Kendr in the second resolution strongly condemned all the
Nagrivadis who are robbing the benefits of the good work Romivadis have done
for the promotion of Konkani, for the recognition of Konkani and for all the
good work Romivadis have done for the betterment and development of Konkani.
If it was not for the strong support and martyrdom of all the Romivadis
for the cause of Konkani, today the traitors in Nagri camp would not have
been enjoying the benefits of Konkani. Where are all the Bhembres,
Kelekars, Shivdas, Naiks and others have gone? Why they are silent over the
pleas of Romivadis? Why they are not ashamed of receiving benefits in the
name of Konkani when the greatest work for Konkani cause was done by
Romivadis? This was the statements echoed in the meeting held by KKK. One
member even said that not only we boycott Konkani Conference organized by
unrecognized All India Konkani Parishad but we must also boycott Uday Bhemro
by not patronizing his legal profession. So also to others like Kelekar,
Naiks and Shivdases by disassociating from their activities and by
boycotting their books and other periodicals.
KKK lamented very much the cunningness exhibited by these Nagrivadis against
Romivadis. Being away from Goa nobody should think that we will keep
ourselves as silent spectators of the events that are taking place in Goa
visa - vis Konkani. We at KKK and all our like minded friends and collegues
are fully for getting due recognition for Romi Konkani and while saying so
we do not deny due respect for Nagri Konknni. Let both the scripts move
together so that both the communities Hindus and Christians walk parallel on
the same road as real brothers and sisters to create a real force in the
unity of Konkani.
Romivadis gave their life for the recognition of Konkani while Nagrivadis
shamelessly are enjoying the benefirts of Konkani. Not a single Nagrivadi
died for Konkani, only the Romivadis suffered martyrdom. The Nagrivadis are
accepting equal status to Marathi but not to Romi Konkani?? What a disgrace
it is!! I am sure, if we who fought for the cause of Konkani are not going
to shake the few Nagrivadis in Goa who are imposing their might on us like
that of dictatorial Salazar, tomorrow these same Nagrivadis in the name of
their Brahminic Konknni will merge their Konknni into Marathi and make
Marathi as an official language of Goa. Before it is too late, let us raise
our voice in unison for the recognition of Romi Konkani also. Let us not
rely anymore on Udai Bhembro, Shivdas Naik, Dileep Borker, all the Kelekars
and others who are nothing but communal of first grade and for this reason
many of them are aligning with BJP. In the name of Nagri Konknni these
Nagri Konknnivadis whose love for Marathi is more will do anything to
dislodge Christians from Goan scene. When Christians were called DUKOR
and they should be sent back to Portugal by a Nagrivadi, none of the
other Nagrivadis raised his or her objection. From here one can make out
the character of these Nagrivadis.
KKK while concluding the meeting condemned the Nagrivadis for denying
Romivadis their birth rights to have share in Konkni activities.
