"The company plans to pump in about $ 10 million for the project," says Richard Ma, executive vice president, Gigabyte Technology. For this purpose, Gigabyte Technology is in the process of acquiring 10 acres of land in Goa. "Goa is the obvious choice as we already have two D-Link offices there," clarified K R Naik, chairman, Gigabyte Technology (India). In August 2005, this tie-up was converted into a joint venture -- Gigabyte Technology (India) Ltd-- with D-Link (India) holding 51 percent stake. On the occasion, the company also unveiled its 12 inch and 14 inch wide-screen Intel Napa platform notebooks. In addition, the company is launching low cost PCs, networked PCs, small business servers, networked PDAs and smart phones in March 2006. The company expects PC sale of six million including 15 percent laptops in 2006. "Laptops are expected to grow over 150 percent this year," says Prabodh Vyas, managing director, Gigabyte Technology (India). Gigabyte Technology (India), which was set-up six months ago, notched a business of Rs 175 crore in fiscal 2005-'06.
