The 17 Postal Circles, including reigning champions Andhra Pradesh, will vie for top honours in the four-day-long 21st All-India Postal Weightlifting/Powerlifting and Best Physique Tournament beginning, Mapusa in North Goa from tomorrow. The tournament is being organised by Postal Services Staff Welfare Board with an aim to promote, develop and organise welfare, sports and cultural activities for the employees of the department, said Postmaster General (Goa Region) Aruna Jain and Post Master General (Foreign Post and Marketing) for Maharashtra and Goa K C Mishra while jointly speaking to media persons here today. Ms Jain said about 120 participants, including officials from 17 Postal Circles from all over India, will be seen in action. Some of the Postal Circles participating in the event are Bihar, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharastra, Orissa, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, UP and West Bengal. The weightlifting, powerlifting and best physique competition will be conduncted in different weight categories. In the best physique competition, the winner will be adjudged 'Dak Sree'. Last years championship was held in Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh had won the two team championships - in weightlifting and powerlifting. Goa Governor S C Jamir will inaugurate the tournament.(UNI)
