Govt spent huge sums on iffi delegates BY HERALD REPORTER PANJIM, FEB 14 - If huge sums were spent on entertaining invitees and delegates for IFFI during the BJP rule, it was not very different during IFFI 2005 during the Congress regime. The Government spent Rs 1.11 crore on airfare and another Rs 1.20 crore on accommodation of invitees/delegates and film professionals. Altogether 233 delegates/invitees, film stars, singers and others attended IFFI 2005. There were 78 foreign delegates/invitees, the Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane told the Goa Assembly in a unstarred written question tabled by Harish Zantye. Besides, the Government incurred an expenditure of Rs 9.61 lakh on providing transport facility to some delegates while translation facilities provided to certain delegates cost Rs 39,000. MORCHAS: To a question tabled by Vinay Tendulkar, the Chief Minister informed the House that the modes of agitations increased more than two times from the previous year. The total number of agitations conducted in 2003 were 20, in 2004, 25 and in 2005, it jumped to 62. In 2003, five morchas were organized while 2004 saw 12 and 2005 had 35. Three dharnas each were held in2003 and 2004 but in 2005 the number reached 7.
