Prawns replace chicken on Sonia's plate By: Mayuresh Pawar February 23, 2006
Panaji: Chicken flew off Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s menu in Goa. Sonia is on a two-day visit to Goa, her first visit after the Congress formed the government both at the Centre and in Goa. On Wednesday, Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane hosted a dinner party at his official residence here at Altinho and met the state cabinet ministers and party legislators. The catering firm, Sher-e-Punjab, was asked to keep chicken away from the menu, even though Goa has not been affected with bird flu. “We have not included any chicken item for madam’s menu, due to the avian flu,” confirms Mandeep Singh, owner of the firm. She will now dine on fried prawn, prawn curry, fish curry, mutton xacutti, cashew bhaji, mushroom xacutti, mussels fry masala, veg pulav, an assortment of breads and rice and of course, bibinca.
