No-one can convert anyone else to atheism. It is a deconverted worldview that
arises out of personal investigation and conviction from a multitude
of 'faiths'. As a Goan, and an atheist, I am offended that we do not have a
simple word of gratitude in Konkani that does not invoke divine blessings. I'm
sure we can do better.
Dear Kevin,
As per th English-Konkani, Konkani-English word meanings by
Mohan Prabhu Q.C. Ottawa, the following meanings may be of help:
Thank - Upkar Mand (Upkar mandhun Ghe - acknowledge thanks)
Thank you - Argan (orgam) thuka/thumkam
- Upkar thuzo/thumcho
- Dheu borem korum (this is not Devine invocation, but a
mere thank you, we also say in English thank you, god
bless).
Thanks
giving - Argan dhiunchin
Indebted - abhari
In all probability these words or phrases are not being used, that does not
mean to say Konkani does not have the appropriate words.
