Jagson Airlines to acquire 20 Airbus
New Delhi: Jagson Airlines, which is expected to commence its scheduled
services mid-2006, Thursday announced plans to purchase 20 Airbus A321
aircraft at an estimated cost of $1.3 billion.

"We have almost finalised the deal for 20 Airbus aircraft. We are, at the
moment, negotiating on delivery dates," Jagson Airline CEO Uttam Kumar
Bose said.

The company is trying to persuade the French Airbus consortium for an
early delivery in 2007. The discussions with Airbus were held at the
ongoing Singapore Air Show and the financing modalities were also being
worked out.

"We plan to acquire 20 Airbus A321 aircraft with a firm order of 14
aircraft and an option of six other aircraft." Bose said.

"We will begin our operations with six leased aircraft. The inaugural
flight between Delhi and Bangalore will be in April or May."

Bose reiterated that Jagson Airlines, which plans to cover nine cities by
year-end, would be the first low-cost carrier in the country to operate a
two-class configuration of premium executive and executive targeting
economy class travellers.

"We will offer them maximum benefits in terms of comfort and services and
attract new customers with our premium services at competitive cost."

Jagson, which is the country's first registered airline, will start
operations with a minimum paid-up capital of Rs.500 million and has an
expansion plan over the next three years with an investment of Rs.15,000
million.
