LADIES SHOW IN KUWAIT ON 2ND MARCH BHOSONNEM
Drama or Tiatro as it is known in Goan community is an unique form of art
which came into being in 1892 on 17th April in Bombay by Lucasino Ribeiro on
the pattern of Italian Opera. Since then, innumerable Tiatros were staged
by innumerable artistes. During the early years, the performers were all
male artistes and the roles of females were performed by males only.
Gradually females also were introduced to Konkani stage and currently it is
become very common for the females to act in Tiatros. The involvement of
females is so high that finally the stage was set for ladies only to stage
their tiatros. The first all ladies show was staged in Bombay & Goa by
the late gigantic director C. Alvares approximately 35 years back while the
second was by Patrick Dourado about 25 years back and third and fourth by
Kuwait based Rosary Ferns in 1983 & 84. The fifth ladies show in the
history of Goan stage is staged by Samuel Carvalho the ex Kuwait Goan who is
now all set of staging his own Ladies Show Bhogsonnem in Kuwait on 2nd
March 2006, at 6.30 pm at Hawally A/C Hall. All the participants who are
already come to Kuwait, are popular female artistes who will also do the
roles of male artistes. Felcy will imitate M. Boyer while comedy queen
Janet will imitate William de Curtorim besides charming Aplon, veteran
Fatima and new sensation Anju will perform the roles of males. The other
female artistes are Betty Naz and Betty Ferns, Roma, Meena Leitao, Clara &
Felina. Since this is the first time such a ladies show in Kuwait, the
audience should not miss this unique opportunity. Musical score for the show
will be provided by Norman Cardoso coming all the way from Goa. Entry passes
