Bicholim locals block trucks HERALD CORRESPONDENT BICHOLIM, FEB 23 – An irate mob of 100 residents from Bicholim led by BMC Councillor on Thursday stopped the trucks carrying ore from various mining areas to protest against pollution. According to sources, the incident occurred at around 4 pm when around twenty trucks reached Bordem in Bicholim. What irritated the residents was that due to transportation, the entire stretch of road was covered by mud water flowing from the trucks causing inconvenience to motorists. On receiving information, Councillor Kamlakant Teli, Environmentalist Ramesh Gauns, Gokuldas Harmalkar, Naresh Kakade and others blocked the trucks for two hours. After receiving the information, the RTO Sanjay Parwadkar went to the site and fined the trucks.
