Italian accused of murder remanded HERALD CORRESPONDENT PERNEM, FEB 25 – An Italian National Giovanni Baptista Page who allegedly stabbed a Swedish tourist Fedrick Ejaias Stensson has been remanded to a 11-day police custody by First Class Magistrate of Pernem. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Chili Guest House at Arambol beach, wherein both were living in the same hotel. What angered Italian tourist was playing of loud music by the Swede which annoyed him. After heated arguments on the issue on earlier occasions, an altercation broke out between them and infuriated Italian national allegedly stabbed the victim on his chest. The victim was moved to Goa Medical College but where he succumbed to his injuries. Page admitted to the killing, sources said. Further investigation is in progress and Pernem PI Gundu Naik is investigating the case.Suicides: Meanwhile, a 25-year-old married youth from Chonsaiwada Parsem on Wednesday night committed suicide by hanging himself to a tree. PI of Pernem police station is conducting further investigation. Meanwhile, one Laximan Sakharam Naroji (25) resident of Narojwada Morjim committed suicide recently by hanging himself to the roof of the house. The cause behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
