TIATRIST SAMUEL CARVALHO.
I am sure everyone will know who tiatrist Samuel Carvalho is. Hailing from
Majorda Salcette Goa, Samuel is currently one of the well known Goan Stage
writers, Directors and Actors. Currently he is in Kuwait as a visitor along
with his troupe of Ladies Show. His Tiatro BHOGSONNEM where all the
participants will be ladies only, some from Bombay while the rest from Goa
will be staged on Thursday 2nd of March 2006 at Hawally A/C Hall, starting
at 6.30 p.m. In all, Bhogsonnem will comprise 11 female artistes and the
roles of male artistes will be performed by them only. According to Samuel,
Bhogsonnem is his second drama, the first being Hem Tumkam Sogleank while
in between he produced Portugues Goykar which was staged all over Goa and
in some of the countries in the Gulf as well. Samuel is not a fresher in
Kuwait, in fact he worked in Kuwait for many years for M/s Al Riyash Trading
Co. from the time he landed in Kuwait in 1991 after the invasion and
liberation of Kuwait and left Kuwait for good almost after a decade. During
his residence in Kuwait he acted in some of the Tiatros organized by the
Kuwait Goan tiatrists, one being that of Anthony de Majorda and also of Jose
Rod where he performed the role of a Bebdo. First time in his lifetimet he
acted in Goa for Patrick Dourados Noketr and gained tremendous goodwill
and abundant appreciation from the audience. His favourite role is that of
a villain but he is also known as a good character actor. As a tiatrist he
acted for many of the top directors namely C. D. Silva, Anthony San, Jose
Rod, Milagres de Chandor and Comedian Agostinho.
This is the first time he is touring Kuwait with his own troupe and own
drama comprising all the ladies except Anil Kumar who is his Stage Manager.
Before coming to Kuwait, Samuel and his troupe already staged this show
Bhogsonnem in Qatar on 17th of this month (February 2006) and received
good response there, said Samuel. When questioned about his expectation in
Kuwait, he immediately answered I expect very good crowd in Kuwait because
very many people are anxiously waiting to see this show as this is the first
time all ladies show is going to be staged in Kuwait. Speaking about this
show, he said people must watch how beautifully and smartly these ladies are
performing, people must, he further said, watch how some of the ladies are
imitating Trio Kings M. Boyer and of course William de Curtorim. And to
give an extra booster for this show, he said he brought number one musician
from Nuvem Goa, Norman Cardoso.
While concluding, Samuel said that he would love to see every tiatro writer,
director and actor/actress in Kuwait attending this show and analyzing the
roles of every female artiste who is giving her total dedication for
attaining success. Expressing his gratitude for all his artistes, Samuel
said that he is very grateful to all his artistes for cooperating with him
so much and supporting him in every respect.
His next drama Boro Tiatrist will be released in Goa in July and later on
he will stage this drama in Mumbai, Kuwait and other parts of the Gulf. All
the topmost artistes from Goa and Bombay will participate in this new
Tiatro.
