Bernardo,
First of all, my grandfather changed the spelling of
our name to Goveia. We're named after a village in
Portugal. Don't ask me why. I'm glad you think it is
a beautiful name. I was born with it, so I'm stuck
with it. I have no intention of changing it, like
some of my relatives have changed their names to Desai
and Naik, etc. Who are THEY trying to fool?
>
You can't change history, Bernardo. BTW, you and I
are not neo-colonized, we are migrants. You are a
migrant to the UK and I am a migrant to the US. If
you were so concerned about Goa and Portugal why don't
you go and live there? There are many Brits who are
migrating to Goa. Why and you are still living in
Britain?
>
I want Goans to live anyway they like. I just
returned from Goa and no one told me that they were in
a "permanent mental and physical wrap." No one talked
about Portugal at all. They were too busy making
money, and enjoying fenni and sorpotel.

Why do you Portuguese types have to twist history?
Your Portuguese masters tried to call Goa an "overseas
province" and you are trying to tell people that Goans
invited the Portuguese to "rule" Goa.
>
Why is your mentality so subservient that you want to
be "ruled" by a third rate European country. Goa is
now part of a new superpower called India. Hasn't the
British press reported this yet? Then get the latest
issue of Newsweek and read about India. Then ask
yourself why any Goan would want to be "ruled" by a
third rate European superpower instead of being part
of a superpower?

Wake up Bernardo. You can't turn back the clock,
especially from half a world away.
