<*** 5 global airlines willing to fly foreign tourists into Goa

Five international airlines have shown interest in bringing tourists
directly
from Europe and other countries to Goa. More at:

The report mentions four airlines of which one, Condor, is probaby a
CHARTER airline not a scheduled airline. One normally associates 'tourists'
only with charter airlines rather than scheduled airlines. So its odd that
the headline is worded the way it is.

What is desirable is to have more scheduled airlines operate international
flights out of Goa. Why is this not happening? Maybe because the main
interest would be on Gulf routes and these are being reserved for the Indian
public sector airlines lke AI and Indian.

The report mentions tourist interest in Australia. And another report talks
about opening up of air services between India and Australia. But the
chances of an Australian airline like Qantas coming to Goa may be slim.

At any rate, serious efforts should be made to identify scheduled
international airlines which will run daily/weekly services out of Goa --
whether Dabolim or Mopa.
