Marie makes a compelling argument.
1. Governments MUST check their own yard and ensure that all protocols are
followed.
2. Waste and Swiping of funds is contributory to the short cuts; So is the
Political Interference. Once the average health (or any other) worker
believes that "Some are ABOVE the LAW", there is little incentive to follow
protocols.
3. Even so, I seriously doubt that there are ANY Govt Hospitals in Goa which
do not sterilize equipment before re-use. Cannot see that happening.
Overload, Filth, Dirty Sheets, Uncollected human excreta, Dogs, Cats,
Mosquitos, Rats ..YES ;
but NOT the business of not sterlising. Not at Goa Hospitals. Not yet,
atleast.
4. That, doctors, nurses, porters, etc remain at serious risk from
accidentaly contracting serious disease while just doing their job. And Yet
...NOT a soul would say a word about having "Canteen Services" for them.
5. The question of diseases slipping through existing Blood and Blood
product screens, remains a possibility.
6. The possibility of "short cuts" in the private clinics, remains a
possibility. Do not see How the Govt can prevent this from happening; all
forms of checks having been noted.
7. The "barber" and Tatoo transmission is a possibility; I would venture to
say that the risk of Hepatitis B transmission is significantly higher via
this route than (say) HIV.
Wonder how much saliva (from previous patrons) and fingerprints (of the
faddawalla waiters) is wiped out from those glasses and cups in those
alleged restaurants. Wonder what brilliant bacteria are being transmitted
through those routes.
Whatever the causes, we may wish to seriously consider the following
8. Just because someone contracts HIV does not mean that the person is less
human. We should treat ALL with the same compassion. They have rights too,
you know.
9. We should ALL resolve to be cognisant of the realities of HIV and
Hepatitis B. We MUST realise that certain professions carry a higher
incidence promiscuity: Truck Drivers, Sailors, Travelling Salesmen,
Politicians, Prison Officers, Police and Army chaps, Pilots and Air travel
workers, the wealthy who don't know what to do with their money, Film
producers, gangsters etc.
Good to stay far away from these folks...... Far Away !
10. We should work towards Prevention. Don't know how much protection
'those' condoms afford, especially without the appropriate education on
their use.
