Theft in Churches and places of worship. Churches are our homes and we have to look after them.
I feel that the bishop Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao should the take issue under his control and arrange a contribution in every catholic household on monthly basis towards the upkeep of the respective church in every village in Goa. The security of the church has to be modernised with electronic alarms and a 12 hour security guard on night duty who has to be provided with a panic alarm so that in case of an emergency he can energize the alarm and get support from the public. The Sunday contribution in our churches normally does not exceed Rs. 5000 to Rs. 15000 a month. With such a meagre income, how can the churches be safe. There are costs involved in providing cleaning service, electricity charges, wages and maintenance. I know that the community is not rich but we are not paupers either. Tom de Sousa in Hong Kong.
