Reference Jessica Lal, Priyadarshini Mattoo, Sanjiv Nanda, Nitish Katara , Gujarat riots with witnesses turning hostile,and many such cases, corruption of Police and the Judicary even at High Court Level , to quote former Chief Justice of India V.N.Khare, who also opines, that extraordinary situations demand extraordinary measures. It is time to not only report,complain and ridicule our Justice system but to do something about it! Those who make the Laws , also break them, and those who implement it do not see eye to eye.Justice holds the scales in its hands, and a slight pressure can make the heavier appear lighter.
We have for too long quietly accepted one set of interpretation and implementation of the same law for Parliament members and our Rulers (They dont seem to govern), another for the rich and powerful, another for the middle class, and yet another for the poor. "Chalta Hai" must change to "Nahi Chalenga!" The unanimous report of the Parliamentary Committee speaks to the citizens of India loud and clear. Instead of thanking the media, the offending members have been given the benefit of doubt? What doubt? That they have not actually done what is the practice and visually proved as being done? The backbone of corruption,making money, cash for queries in Parliament.How does that not relate to crime relating to their Parliamentary priveleges and duties? Theey want Right to privacy, curbing sting operations.But no curb in corruption? They want to crucify the messenger, always. What has been done to the pioneer, Tehelka is not forgotten. Ceasers wife must not only be above suspicion, but seen to be so.To quote Kiran Bedi "This time,we must not address this inter-disciplinary challenge piecemeal. Let not vested interests or resource constraints come in the way. We must realise one of the strongest pillars of practising Democracy is rule of Law.
