Hi Amstrong,
I was delighted to read the account of your motoring trip from London to Goa. Many people I know from London have done the trip for sheer adventure but unfortunately, in my case, political border unrest whilst trying to exit Turkey forced me back in one instance in my VW beetle. I drive long distances much less now, but do fancy the train trip from London to Vladivostock sometime.

In Sangolda, in retirement now, my friend Fred Pinto did Goa thus: From Las Vegas where he worked for some years, he shipped his recreational van from San Francisco to Lisbon then did the overland trip all the way to India via Afghanistan. The locals helped him fix all the minor breakdowns along the route. He managed to ship the van back from Bombay.

I have done some pretty long car trips myself including part of the Sahara, but especially, during the height of the Cold War, in 1967, 68, and 69 in the then pretty unpredictable Soviet Union controlled part of the world. However, my trips pale into insignificance compared to yours. Good luck to you!
Cornel
PS I once worked with an elderly English academic who had cycled, prior to university, with friends all the way from London to Bombay. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Armstrong Augusto Vaz" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
