Match Report as per AFC: Al Nasrs super subs Mohamed Matoona and Mohamed Mubarak had a field day as the Omani side destroyed Indias Dempo Sporting Club 3-1 in a Group B match of the AFC Cup 2006 here late Tuesday. Three crosses from Mubarak resulted in three goals while Matoona grabbed a second half brace. Nigerian Ranty Martins reduced the deficit for the Indian champions who were outclassed at the Salalah Sports Complex. Dempo did well to hold their own against their strong rivals and the first half ended goalless. Matoona opened the scoring for Al Nasr in the 57th minute after connecting with a Mubarak cross from the right. Parity was restored after a rash foul by Al Nasr goalkeeper Abdul Fael on Martins forced referee Qasem Shaban to point to the spot. Martins himself stepped up and made no mistake in equalising the score on 73 minutes. Matoona and Mubarak again combined six minutes later with the former soaring high to head in a pinpoint cross which re-established Al Nasrs one-goal lead. Another cross from Mubarak was turned into his own goal by under-pressure Dempo defender John Dias four minutes from time. Merv of Turkmenistan are the other team in this group and they open their campaign against Dempo on Match Day 2 on March 21. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Match Two AFC CUP 2006 Group B - League match Teams: Dempo Sports Club, Goa v/s Merv, Turkmenistan Date: 21st March, 2006 Time: 14.30 IST Venue:Olympic Stadium, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan Temp: 58/39'F Score: Dempo 2 (Ranty Martins 13', OG - Mahtumkuli Begendjev 87') - Merv 2 (2-Oleg Yuzbashyan 80' & 90'), Match Report as per AFC: A late own goal saw Merv of Turkmenistan fritter a one-goal advantage and end their opening Group B encounter of the AFC Cup against Dempo Sports Club of India 2-2 on Tuesday here at the Olympic Stadium. The draw left Al Nasr leading the group with three points from two matches, while Merv are second with one point from one match. Dempo bring up the rear with one point from two matches. Merv fell behind on home turf in the 13th minute when Nigerian forward Ranty Martins, who also scored in Dempos opening round defeat to Al Nasr, found the net after a neat exchange. Despite the early goal, the defending league champions from India failed to push home the advantage and came close to conceding the equalizer at least twice in the first period. Merv, who are the Turkmenistan Cup champions, poured forward for the elusive goal upon resumption and hammered away at the Indian defence. One such raid saw Clifford Miranda bringing down Yevginy Tkachenko as he was getting ready to take aim at the goal and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Oleg Yuzbashyan stepped up and sent Dempo goalkeeper Abhijit Mondal the wrong way to restore parity 10 minutes from time. But Mahtumkuli Begendjev undid all the hardwork with an own goal in the 87th minute and it looked like Armando Colacos men would earn their first full points. But Yuzbashyan had other plans and salvaged a draw with a superlative strike, which also brought up his brace, in the final minute.
