Lakme Fashion Week: It's Wendell belles all the way DNA Karishma Upadhyay/Shalinee Chowdhury Thursday, March 30, 2006 00:33 IST
It was the last show of day two and after an absence, Bollywood rallied around the whole day to show their appreciation and support for Wendell Rodricks. "For audiences who are jaded after seeing hundreds of shows, having a star walk the ramp adds to the drama. After the first five to six, the crowd understands the style and begins to lose focus. Seeing a star walk wakes the crowd up," said former model and now jewellery designer Queenie Dhody. Fellow Goan Gerson da Cunha said the show was simply stunning. Clean lines, muted colours and wearability were on display. Termed Isadora in India, the 2006 resort wear line combined Wendell's minimalism and his muse Isadora Duncan's classicism. Clapping for almost every second ensemble were the queens of fashion Maureen Wadia, Anuradha Mahindra, Ramona Garware, Queenie Dhody and Haseena Jethmalani among others. On the ramp, it was Deepika Padukone's first show. She started off the show to a loud round of applause. Ujjwala Raut made her second appearance after walking the ramp the day before for Manish Malhotra. She also carried off Rodricks' floral inspired showstopper with panache. While Rodricks gave Bollywood celebrities a miss when it came to modelling his creations, Arbaaz, his wife Malaika and sister-in-law Amrita Arora were present. Rodricks' partner Gerome and cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar with wife also attended the show. http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1020953 ~(^^)~ Avelino _____________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
