Priest Murder Case: Day 14 - What today's papers say - 30/3/06 2 ALLEGED KILLERS OF FR. FERRAO IDENTIFIED. GT page 2 The Macazana Parish mess boy Sunil Rodrigues yesterday identified the two accused- Manish Shivsagar Dubbey 20, and Amit Laltaprasad Shukla, 28 both from UP. The identification parade was held in the minister's chamber at south Goa Collectorate, Margao in the presence of joint mamlatdar Ashutosh Apte. The Parade lasted for over one hour. Eight suspects were asked to take positions in the parade and two of them were Manish & Amit. Sunil Rodrigues without any hesitation pointed at the two, thus identifying them from the group. ..Maina Curtorim PI Harish Madkaikar, when contacted, refused to divulge further information. All he said was that 'enquiries are in progress'. GT

Eusebio Ferrao's murder added up. Here are more points to ponder. 1. FRIENDS IN CRIME Manish applied for a leave application on March 16, stating that he had to appear for his exams. If Mamish knew that he had to go back for his exams why did he invite his friend Amit to the state, just four days before Fr. Ferrao's murder ? 2. MEETING GROUND. Where did the priest meet the accused Manish ? Police claim that the priest met Manish in the garden, but then why would a priest go and befriend a person in the garden ? 3. ARCHBISHOP SAYS: Directives to the faithful of GOa by the Archbishop Felipe Neri Ferrao states that the faithfull may fulfill the obligation of abstinence on Friday's by choosing at leat one of the forms of prayer/penance/works of charity. Abstaining from alcohol (for those who drink) is one of the forms. So did the priest really drink whisky on a Friday, during the Lent season ?? JoeGoaUk adds: 'Padrimche xermao vhoniek nhuim' ? 4. ON THE ROCKS. If Manish and Amit were 'not used to drinking', then why did they consume beer offered to them ? And if they were really drunk as stated by the police, they would have been in deep sleep when Fr. Ferrao went to check upon them at midnight. 5. STABLE WHILE ESCAPING. Did the accused kill the priest in an inebriated state ? However, they were conscious enough to lock the cook in his room before fleeing to the Rly Station to make good their escape. 6. RECURRENCES & CONTINUITY. How close was the priest to the two accused ?
