Domnic Fernandes continues (Part III) his reminiscence of Mapusa of the 1950s http://www.goanet.org/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=426 ------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Gilbert,

I mentioned my sis in law, for the simple reason that she showed me the 'Golf Course' as early as in the 70's. The Navy personnel do need recreation, I admit; but this is far above what the average Indian does for their recreation, at public expense! The Navy Golf playgroung has been there ever since; but most people know about it, only when Churchillexposed the same.

Also I would like to repeat what I have said in my earlier posting; The Navy is supposed to look after the Coastline too; then why did the Navy not take upon itself the task of refloating the River Princess, stranded off Candolim Beach; or at least volunteer advice to the GOG on how this can be done and who can do it. Instead the Navy is satisfied with their routines of 'Tuxedo dinners' and Saluting! The Navy has failed to show its prowess in peacetime. This is final. I hope not to involve you in any further discussion reated to this topic.

With regards.
Nasci
