Just got a mail from [EMAIL PROTECTED] which said: "Hi Rico, Kindly go through our web site, Could yu be kind enough to give a smalll write up on St. Britto's?"
On going online what one saw was a simple neat site with a reminder: " 234 days until the BMX 2006 Reunion". It also has links to the B(rittos), (St) M(ary's) and X(aviers). Together with options to register, send feedback and offer contact details. With so many alumni all over the place, this surely could be a more content-rich site. Or does it mean that we need to start real-world writing classes for our students *while* in school? Incidentally, Xaviers is doing a good job already with their journalism and videography courses. See yestereday's newspapers with their adverts for vacencies for staff! And, if you feel a sense of loyalty to the institution, please try to support their attempts to build an ambitious auditorium named after late principal Fr Nicolau "Pop" Pereira. Says the site: "After a wonderful and nostalgic experience at the last BMX 2004 event in Toronto, we welcome each and every one of you to "Amche Goem" for yet another inforgettable BMX 2006 Goa re-union. Yes indeed... it's going to be a very emotional experience as we walk down memory lane, remembering our school and college days. It is all going to happen here in Goa from Dec 16th — 22nd Dec 2006." It would be nice if alumni could look back with nostalgia, and also look *forward* with some concrete plans to further build the institutions which help them reach places in life! There's some more background about the site: "Our first BMX Re-union was held at Toronto, Canada, in July 2004. More than 600 ex-students together with their families attended. More than 50 people participated from UK, about 20 from Goa, about 20 from the U.S.A., about 10 from Australia and a few from Europe and other places. BMX is an acronym for "St. Britto's High School, St. Mary's High School, and St. Xaviers College". All these Educational Institutions are based in Mapusa, Goa. Most of the students belong to the two institutions - Boys (Britto's and Xaviers) and Girls (Mary's and Xaviers). However there are a few boys who attended the KG in St.Mary's, subsequently then joined Brittos, and finally ended at Xaviers :=) BMX Goa 2006 is looking foward to meet all the past students from Brittos, Marys and Xaviers, as we walk down memory lane, remembering our school and college days. Anxiously waiting for your support and kindly attend in big numbers by registering for the event." Check it out at http://bmxgoa.com/ FN PS: Dotcom? Maybe a dotorg, dotnet or even dotin would be more appropriate! -- ---------------------------------------------------------- Frederick 'FN' Noronha | Yahoomessenger: fredericknoronha http://fn.goa-india.org | [EMAIL PROTECTED] Independent Journalist | +91(832)2409490 Cell 9822122436 ---------------------------------------------------------- Just launched, a network to promote Free Software links across South Asia http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bytesforall_floss _____________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
