I wonder if nodding is a hangover gesture from our colonial past.It is possible that indians wanted to be servile,and they nodded in submission. I do know that in Goa, While driving, nodding at junctions,intersections, has prevented many an accident.I found it quite peculiar,when I first came to live here,but now I look at people's body language .When drivers stop ,rather yield - they nod their head ,meaning "you first".Has any one else noticed this mannerism while driving?I think it is done in good faith,and generally I find the men "yielding" to women drivers.
