As far as I know, Nelly Furtado is from Portugal (Azores) who was brought up in Vancouver, and later moved to Toronto. I have watched her live performance once in Toronto when she had just made big news with her first album. I remember reading that she wants to visit India, particularly Goa, as she had heard much about the little state.
