It is always a matter of judgement when having judged a point or piece as drivel whether it is worth wasting time on it or not. A perfect illustration of drivel is when someone persists on saying that the Portuguese took their surnames from Goans rather than the other way around. Why would any sensible person want to waste time on a daft assertion like that?

The ball is now in your court re the specific point I make above and I await your reply.

Thanks for considering me contentious on Goanet.
That is indeed a compliment. Contentious views are
welcome on Goanet as per the moderators.

You also refer to intemperate language which I do
not recognize in my post.

Mario responds:

Cornel,
When you realize that the definition of "contentious"
is, "exhibiting an often perverse and wearisome
tendency to quarrels and disputes" you may change your
mind about taking it as a compliment. I don't believe
the moderators support such an attitude either.

Regarding intemperate language, I wonder why you
deleted my comment that you were responding to so that
the intemperate language could not be seen. But here it is, "...I prefer not to waste my time on obvious drivel." Instead of explaining exactly what you "obviously" took issue with in Arjun's post, you dismissed it as "drivel", which the dictionary defines as, "to talk stupidly and carelessly". In a civil public forum I believe that would certainly qualify as intemperate language.
