"Maddak ani Maddiek ekuch khadum?"...Konkani Proverb
Khadum = A circular loop of a rope used in climbing palm-trees. It is placed
on the feet to have a firm grip and enhance climbing up palm-trees.
To use the same Khadum for climbing both the coconut as well as areca nut
(betel)
trees.
To use the same sized loop for climbing the stout coconut tree as is used to
climb up the very small trunk of a areca nut tree is practically impossible.
This proverb means it is stupid to apply the same standard in measuring two
different objects which have broad inherent differences in them.
