Elisabeth,
One only has to change the word "Goa" for "Canada" and
this is the same argument that people were using in
Toronto fifty years ago. First it was used to try and
stop people from economically depressed areas  from
moving to Toronto. Then the same argument was used to
try and prevent people from developing countries
moving to Canada. The argument has proven to be a
poor/bankrupt one.

IMHO, prostitution, gambling, violence and drugs are
the demands of people with money to waste.

Most countries have a minimum wage policy. I am not
sure if India has such laws. If it does, surely the
employers are choosing the migrant labour because:
1) they work harder
2) for less wages
3) both

Lastly, involving politicians will only worsen the
problem. The Mexican migrant issue in Texas is a prime
example. If anything, Goans should learn from what the
migrants bring with them i.e. a hunger for work.
