Further to my Message of yesterday - Following is an update :
CREW RESCUED FROM SINKING SHIP
============================
Battling Heavy Gales - Coast Guard and Naval Helicopters
evacuated 20 Crew Members of the Sinking Ship "Ocean Sereya"
yesterday morning.
It is confirmed now that only one Person (Second Officer -
Mr Azeem Juvale) is presumed drowned. It is suspected that he
jumped in to the sea when the Ship collided with the rocks.
We also understand that there was one Goan among the crew
(Mr Thomas Mathias Mascarenhas - Motorman). All the rescued
Crew are reported to have been airlifted from the Ship and
moved to Goa.
The M/V Ocean Sereya which was waiting at Karwar outer
anchorage for Loading Iron Ore ran into rough weather early
tuesday morning (30/May) and collided with the dreaded Oyster
Rock at Karwar and began sinking.
