Let's bury our vocabulary in quantifying the pontification or otherwise;
Let's start working towards a better Goa. Save atleast one life as the man
on the beach tried to throw the starfish back into the sea all the time!(to
save the starfish).
What is the need of the hour:
01. The Government should be requested to notify the ROAD SAFETY OUTFIT FOR
GOA (NAME IT ROAD SAFETY BRIGADE; NAME IT TRAFFIC WARDEN ORGANISATION)
02. APPOINT THE APEX COMMITTEE CONSISTING OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE UNDERSTOOD
ROAD SAFETY AND THOSE WHO LIVE AT GOA AT PRESENT.
03. Appoint the Chief
04. DRAW PLANS TO ATTACK THE PRIMARY PROBLEMS SUCH AS : EDUCATE THE
CHILDREN; EDUCATE THE YOUTH AND EDUCATE THE ERRING DRIVERS;
05. PROVIDE POWERS TO ISSUE CHALLANS UPTO CERTAIN OFFENCES, TO THE WARDENS.
06. PROVIDE A LEGAL STATUS AND ALSO STATUTORY POWERS FOR HELPING THE POLICE
IN TIMES OF EMERGENCY
07. DEFINE THE REGULATIONS FOR THE WARDENS AND DEFINE THEIR UNIFORM AND
PARADE TO GET ORGANISED AND DISCIPLINED.
(ROAD SAFETY IS NOT TAUGHT! IT IS LEARNT FROM THE DEMONSTRATION EFFECT.)
08. CREATE A ROAD SAFETY TRUST OF GOA (OBJECTIVES ARE AVAILABLE WITH ME)
09. DON'T EXPECT TRAFFIC FLOW AND ROAD ACCIDENTS TO BEHAVE WELL ON THE
SECOND DAY!
10. TAKE TIME FOR A YEAR OR SO AND RE ASSESS.- THERE IS AN IMPROVEMENT AND
MANY A LIVES HAVE BEEN SAVED, WHILE MANY AN INDIVIDUAL HAS SACRIFICED HIS
TIME AND ENERGY ON THE ROAD.
11. Road Safety is not the prerogative of the Traffic Police and the
Transport Commissioner alone; it is the prime duty of every ROAD
USER.(INCLUSIVE OF A PEDESTRIAN)
12. ROAD SAFETY IS NOT A DESTINATION; IT IS A JOURNEY.
