Hi all, A national campaign against bribery has been launched yesterday,July 1st 2006. Goa has also framed it own rules, under the "Right To Information Act". This is our chance,Goans,to use this act as a weapon against bribery. The system needs to be tested and tried out. Any Govt office where there are delays in paperwork ,any office where files dont move and processeses get delayed is a great place to use this act.One needs to write a letter to the concerned dept ,sub:"Application Under Right To Information Act".The application fee is only Rs 10.
Under this act every citizen is empowered to: Ask any questions from the Govt or seek info take copies of Govt docs inspect Govt docs inspect Govt works take sample materials of any Govt works If the concerned officer does not provide info in time,a penalty of rs 250 per day of delay can be imposed by the Information commisioner. This fine is deducted from the officer's personal salary. We need to weed out and throttle corruption. For more info check out www.righttoinformation.org the national helpline no is 09250492504. Cheers, Melinda _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
